There’s something about September that makes us want to sharpen our pencils, crack open a fresh notebook, and start something new.

Back to School for Grown-Up Artists!
Maybe you spent the summer traveling, gardening, relaxing, chasing kids, working, or simply enjoying the sunshine.
Maybe you spent it making art.
And maybe, somewhere along the way, you thought:
“This fall, I really want to get serious about this.”
That’s where an art class can make all the difference.
You don’t need to be an art student. You don’t need to have years of experience. And you certainly don’t need to already know exactly what you’re doing.
Sometimes, you just need a place to start!
Our upcoming classes are a great way to introduce yourself to a completely new medium — or to return to something you’ve tried before and finally get comfortable with the fundamentals.
Curious about graphite drawing? Introduction to Graphite Drawing is a great place to begin.
Interested in the beautiful, unpredictable world of alcohol inks? Try Alcohol Inks 101.
Want to finally understand the basics of oil painting? Intro to Oils can give you the foundation you need.
Intrigued by acrylic gouache? Intro to Acrylic Gouache is an opportunity to learn what makes this wonderfully versatile medium so much fun.
And that’s just a taste of what’s happening in our Studio Classroom!
Learn With an Expert, and Experiment With the Good Stuff:
One of the best things about taking a class at The Art Store is that you get to learn by doing.
Our classes are taught in a small-group setting, with a maximum of 8 students in most classes. That means you have plenty of opportunity to ask questions, watch techniques demonstrated up close, and get guidance from an experienced instructor while you work.
And perhaps best of all?
All materials are provided!
You don’t have to buy a kit before you even know whether you’ll enjoy a medium. You don’t have to invest in a drawer full of supplies and hope you bought the right things.
Instead, you can sit down in our Studio Classroom, pick up the materials you’ll be learning with, and start experimenting.
You get to experience the supplies, learn how they behave, and discover what you like ... all while having an expert there to help you along the way!
And who knows? You may walk out of class with a new favorite medium.
A Fresh Start Can Be Creative!
There’s a reason September has always felt like a fresh start.
New notebooks. New pencils. New schedules. New classes. New things to learn!
So why should the kids have all the fun?
This fall, give yourself permission to be a beginner!
Take the class you’ve been curious about. Revisit a medium you haven’t touched in years... maybe re-learn the basics you skipped the first time around. Spend an afternoon surrounded by other creative people. Ask questions. Experiment. Make something that surprises you.
You don’t have to be “good at art” to take an art class.
You just have to be curious!
And if you’re ready to make this the season you finally explore that creative idea you’ve been carrying around, we’d love to have you in the Studio Classroom!
