What on Earth is a TESSELLATION? Inspired by the works of MC Escher, Rose is bringing you a class on how to create repeating geometric patterns using relief printmaking techniques!
A tessellation, also known as tiling, is the covering of a surface using geometric shapes with no gaps and no overlaps. This motif has been used for centuries in art, bridging the gap between creative expression and mathematic precision. During class, Rose will guide you through different ways you can design your tessellation pattern and then show you her tips and tricks for carving rubber stamps that will bring your design to life.
By the end of class, you’ll leave with your hand-carved stamps, your final tessellation prints, and the inspiration from Rose (and MC Escher!) to continue the fun at home. As always, all materials are provided!
