Care. Cleanse. Create.

In every artist’s studio, there’s a quiet moment, the one between creation and restoration, where care becomes its own art form. This week, The Art Store invites you to step into that moment and turn your workspace into a sanctuary. Inspired by the serene waters of Terme di Montecatini and the timeless elegance of Princess Marcella Borghese, a true self-care pioneer whose beauty rituals were legendary, we bring you a celebration of brushes, beauty, and balance: Care. Cleanse. Create.

Let’s start with a ritual. Gather your brushes, a small bowl, and your favorite cleansers, Mona Lisa Pink Soap or Jack Richeson Linseed Studio Soap, (both with extra 10% off this week.) Before you begin, treat yourself: slice some cool cucumbers into a glass of sparkling water, add ice, and take a deep breath. That’s right, spa water for the artist, a little nod to the traditions of Italian luxury and restorative self-care.

Just remember… your spa water is for you, and your cleansing water is for your brushes. Mixing them up might lead to some questionable flavors and very confused bristles!

As your brushes soak and soften, put on a favorite playlist or a soothing sheet mask. While your brushes are restored to their best, let yourself be restored too. The parallels are beautiful… caring for your tools preserves their longevity and performance, and caring for yourself preserves your energy, focus, and creative spark.

Every gentle swirl of soap through sable or synthetic fiber releases the residue of past work… pigment, linseed, and memories of what was just created… clearing space for what’s to come. Think of it as renewal, both practical and poetic. As your brushes dry, you might find that your own thoughts have settled too.

This week, explore our Brush & Brush Care Event at The Art Store:
Give your brushes and your spirit the spa treatment they deserve. A well-loved brush paints better and a well-cared-for artist creates with joy, ease, and grace. Pour another glass of cucumber water, admire the shimmer of clean bristles catching the light, and remember… care isn’t an interruption to your art… it’s part of the creative process itself. Princess Borghese knew it long ago… tending to the self and the tools of our craft is not indulgence, it is mastery!
