Yasutomo Sumi Bokuju Black Ink is a shellac-based, waterproof liquid ink made from tree or vegetable oil soot that dries with a slight sheen and partially absorbs into paper. This extremely dark ink is ideal for calligraphy, sketching, and drawing, and can be used directly from the bottle, which has a wide mouth to fit most brushes, or it can be diluted with water to provide greyscale tones and washes. It is AP certified nontoxic good grade Sumi ink that can be used as an alternative to India Ink.
