Arist of the Month: Aldo Lira- Inspired by Nature, Rooted in History!

"Encounter"  -  By Aldo Lira

Hello Studio Society Members!

We’re so excited to feature local artist Aldo Lira as The Art Store’s Artist of the Month for October!

A Central New York native, Aldo grew up in a rural environment that continues to influence his work today. His connection to nature is evident in his paintings, where landscapes and organic forms come to life with quiet intensity. He admits he has always painted nature better than buildings or streets, a reflection of the world that formed him.

Primarily an oils artist, Aldo has explored other mediums but always returns to the richness and flexibility of oil paint. His influences range from contemporary painting to the classic styles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries - a period he feels most artistically connected to. His art combines technical skill, a love of art history, and a genuine curiosity about (and connection to) the world around him.

Inspiration often strikes Aldo when he least expects it:  a visual experience, a sound, or even a passing thought. He works best during the day in a quiet home studio, where he sometimes lets an old horror film or American history documentary play in the background, more for ambiance than distraction.

Aldo’s journey with art began at the age of three, sparked by a television PSA about disaster relief that featured an artist drawing. That simple moment planted a seed that has grown into a lifelong passion for creating. Today, he continues to refine his skills by reading technical literature about painting, believing that deep knowledge of tools and materials leads to better craftsmanship.

He also believes in the importance of honest feedback, encouraging artists to seek out perspectives they trust in order to grow.

Aldo Lira’s work is thoughtful, beautifully executed, and grounded in both personal experience and artistic tradition. We invite you to stop by The Art Store now through October 31 to view his featured collection in person. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a fellow creator, or simply curious, this is a great opportunity to experience the work of a talented local artist up close!

XOXOXOX,

Your Friendly Neighborhood Art Store
