The Commissars of the Officio Prefectus are fearsome, iron-fisted authoritarians who keep the wheels of the Astra Militarum in motion. To the masses of humanity – most of whom recognise their black greatcoats, peaked caps, and polished boots from hab-block propaganda or grainy recruitment vids – these inflexible men and women are Imperial authority made manifest.  Those selected by the Officio Prefectus must have unassailable faith in the Imperium and nigh-fanatical levels of totalitarian idealism. Its Commissars are held to the highest standards and are expected to be actively feared by the rank and file – while their gimlet gaze is enough to unnerve even many experienced officers.
